📅 2025, here we go again. Many of us are back in to the work groove, some more reluctantly than others. Others are busy tackling the job market, looking for their next opportunity. I mostly talk about career coaching here on LinkedIn but also work as freelance recruiter - with that in mind, here's a few thoughts if you are recruiting or about to recruit for your organisation.
💻 Prospective employees have never had access to more information. Even in a tough labour market you need to ensure your value proposition is clear. Can you confidently answer, “Why should someone join your company?”
🔀 Covid reset expectations around flexibility, businesses must go beyond superficial perks and genuinely offer flexible working conditions.
💡 Clearly defining roles and success criteria is crucial. Broaden your search parameters beyond exact matches and the inevitable "industry experience required". Be prepared to teach the specifics of your product.
🗞️ A well-thought-out recruitment strategy is more effective than just posting an ad and waiting. If you're going to engage with a recruiter, do it properly. Newsflash - engaging multiple recruiters is not doing it properly.
🫂 Finally, treat every candidate with respect. Even in a challenging market, a poor candidate experience can seriously harm your employment brand.
